chris, this is just amazing. I nearly cried when looking at it. reminds me of the mice stories…can’t remember the titles…they lived in the woods and had magical balls in their underground palaces made from collections of human objects
Cheers Hannah, I’ll have to look up those mice stories…I’m not really sure what’s down there, to be honest. As I was drawing this, figures would come and go, but in the end they all stayed out of sight.
This is absolutely wonderful… as marvellously evocative as your robot woods of those childhood days when everything beyond the iron railings was… magical.
Cheers Ste. Yeah, I want to do a lot more Under the Bandstand sketches. I want to find out what’s down there too…
I’ll meet you and Jack next to the carousel horse!
Stumbled across your work-thumbs up!
Where many others don’t have a clue, you’re there already…love the mysteriousness of yer underground and lost-in-the-woods scenes…
I really love your work. Your pieces seem to be full of stories and character. I especially like that they’re physically here, in the real world…gate keepers to wherever the stories come from…

Beautiful use of light and shadow. Your drawing reminds me of Tom Waits’ song “Underground”.
